 OUR MANIFESTO 

In early 2021, the SECS team spent five weeks digging into the concepts of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion and exploring how to make our office culture and staff the best representation of those ideals. From this work we have created the SECS Manifesto - a document compiling the principles & culture we want to cultivate at SECS. We'll be working to weave these core beliefs into every interaction we have both internally & with our neighbors.

The SECS Manifesto:

We at Southeast Community Services are accountable to ourselves, our team members, and our neighbors.

We at Southeast Community Services recognize and accept that trust is EARNED.  

We at Southeast Community Services will advocate unapologetically for our team, neighbors, family and community. 

We at Southeast Community Services will go beyond the transactional and build genuine relationships with our staff and neighbors.  

We at Southeast Community Services will be a space that honors feelings, opinions, and values; being a support system for staff and neighbors to achieve their goals.  

We at Southeast Community Services will have a team culture where there are no siloes of work, we don’t hear “that’s not my job.” 

We at Southeast Community Services are committed to treating our coworkers and every neighbor with respect and dignity. We believe everyone is creative, resourceful and capable.  

We at Southeast Community Services will continue to prioritize focusing on equity and inclusion to ensure the best assistance and care for neighbors and staff.  

We at Southeast Community Services will craft programming focused on change and innovation to meet the needs of our staff and our community with a focus on designing equity for neighbors who have been marginalized.

We at Southeast Community Services will use continuous analysis, learning and evaluation to continue our anti-racist work with our staff and our neighbors.  

We at Southeast Community Services will celebrate the work we do! 


We at Southeast Community Services will practice radical collaboration internally and externally.  

We at Southeast Community Services will embrace the concept of lifelong learning and are dedicated to the ever-evolving improvement of our staff and neighbors.  

We at Southeast Community Services will continue to remove barriers to accessing services.  

We at Southeast Community Services commit to a culture where the voices of our staff and neighbors are valued and actively listened to.  

We at Southeast Community Services will be open to, and value, the feedback of our staff and community. We offer feedback with responsibility and without fear.  

We at Southeast Community Services will create and maintain an internal culture that is equitable, respectful and supportive by committing to having open conversations.  

We agree that Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work is NEVER done.
